July 2009
Hello there
We are delighted to announce the arrival of Diane DuCharme, who will be conducting all-day seminars July 18 and 19. Diane took the second ever teacher training with Bikram and has been a lynch pin teacher ever since, she opened the first studio in Massachusetts in 1995. Diane will teach the 11.00 am classes both days and will follow with a comprehensive analysis of the 26 posture series. This is your opportunity to ask questions. The standing series will be covered on Saturday and the floor series on Sunday. The cost is 75 euro for either day which includes class and 125 euro for both days. There is no charge for teachers.
If you do not wish to partake of the seminar but would like to take Diane's class, the cost is 20 euro, passes may not be used for the 11.00 either day. You can of course use your pass at the 16.00 either day. On Saturday the 18th, the 16.00 class will actually begin at 17.00, admission to the studio 16.45. You won't know yourself after a weekend with Diane, or maybe I should say you will make acquaintance with every cell of your body....

Having just returned from Bikram's Advanced seminar in Desert Palm my lungs feel as though they could breathe for all of humanity, five hours of yoga every day in 105 degree heat, 115 outside. Sharon sweated out her last drop on the Saturday doing the teacher training and the Advanced seminar back to back and taught her first class at the Hermosa Beach studio at 7.30 am on Monday morning! We will be doing the advanced class every Friday after the 18.30 class, admission by invitation from either myself or Lucy. We will begin 10 minutes after the beginners class ends and it will be strictly two hours maximum. As much as we loved burning the midnight oil with Juan, two hours of advanced is more than enough and we will complete more of the class as each week goes by. Diane will be teaching Advanced to teachers only on Friday 17th after the 12.00 class, so there will be no advanced class that evening.
....To ease congestion during the half hour interval between classes drivers may exit onto Greenmount Lane (left turn the moment you leave the industrial estate) directly onto the canal. This way you bypass the lights at the bridge if you are going left and it also frees up the junction. Also we will be augmenting the bicycle lock-up facilities for all of our fair weather cyclists. Also bear in mind the nearest bike stand for the free bicycle scheme is at the plaza at Portobello, it should be launching any month now. Thanks to everyone for obliging Conor our parking attendant when giving directions, it really has helped keep all the businesses on the estate happy. Remember there are always 15 spaces as you face the wall behind Apex Fire - everyone always forgets they are there.
...the quadrupling of changing room space has done little to reduce lost property. As you all know we have a thriving lost property with yoga mats topping the bill. Annual students may leave their mats at the studio, however we are unable to store any others. In any case, I have been washing and chopping them into two and taking them to children at Jennifer's play group. If you would like a free mat for any little person in your life, just email me with a preferred colour, we have quite the selection. Slightly more worrying we have a wedding ring and a matching engagement ring in the lost property, celebrating their half year stay at the studio!
Congratulations to Sinead who had a beautiful baby girl Lola, within 24 hours of doing class and also to Shohida who followed two days later with a baby boy Samuel. Both moms are flying. Last but not least congratulations to Rebecca who won a seat on Dublin City Council .... Rebecca your yogi constituents would love a bike stand even closer to the studio!
See you all soon
Anne
